William “Bill” Vernon, 80, of Logansport, Indiana formerly of Lima, Ohio died at 8:45 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Born on August 2, 1928 in Logansport, he was the son of the late William L. and Carrie N. (Miller) Vernon.  On December 1, 1947 he married Frances M. Watts and she preceded him in death on August 6, 2003.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Bill retired in 1977 from National Life and Accident Insurance Company as District Manager.  He enjoyed flying his airplane and golfing.

Survivors include sons, Thomas L. Vernon and wife Patty and Frederick R. Vernon and wife Roberta both of Lima, Ohio, sisters, Beverly Spitznogle of Logansport and Judy Zook of Monticello, daughter-in-law Elizabeth A. Martin of Logansport,  grandchildren, Todd Freed, Georgiana Quigley, William Vernon, David Vernon, Tawnie Martin, Carrie Vernon, Thaddeus Vernon and Matthew Vernon and 9 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by son, William L. Vernon.

There will be no visitation or services. 

Burial will be at a later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Logansport.
